By Barbara Ince

Tell us a little bit about your experience, company history and the services you offer.

I am an award winning interior designer with experience in many types of kitchen projects ranging from contemporary kitchens to chefs kitchens, I have been with Fredman Design Group over 10 years and going strong!

What is a common misconception that people have about interior design?

Many people don't differentiate between decorating and design. As an interior design professional, I am really interested in understanding how you want to live so that we can help fulfill your dreams and improve your lifestyle. It is also important to us that we pull together design solutions that have a cohesive style and integrated with the architecture of your home.

How should someone who wants professional help decorating their kitchen start the process?

If you are interested in having a professional help with your design, do a little research first. It is helpful to have photos of spaces that speak to you. A picture is worth a thousand words when you are trying to describe your style. In addition, there are several types of agreements that design professionals use and being familiar with them is helpful so that you can make sure you are comfortable with business side

What are the basic elements of a complete Kitchen design?

The basic elements of a kitchen include cabinets, appliances, countertops and lighting. The basic design elements include circulation, work flow, work space, storage and lighting,

How are the interior design fee and budget typically set?

You may already know what you want to spend on your kitchen project, if so, it is important to share that information up front with your designer. Your designer can also help you 10 determine what your budget should be, based on the value of your home and your needs.

What is one of the most common regrets homeowners have when it comes to interior design choices?

The two mistakes I see most often, is that people tend to light their spaces incorrectly and that they make decisions based on whether or not they like and individual component of the design rather that how it works with the entire design. For example, when you get dressed in the morning, you don't always put on your favorite belt, you put on the belt on that goes best with your outfit. The same philosophy applies for interior design.
