Get Your Yoga Teacher Certification at Edge Yoga School

By Marina I. Jokic

For those eager to practice and teach yoga, Edge Yoga School offers comprehensive yoga teacher training. The school offers a number of Yoga Alliance approved courses. They will guide you through the fundamentals of yogic discipline all the way to advanced yoga postures. All you need to enroll at this studio is an open heart and a willingness to learn.

Michelle Rae Sobi (RYT-500, RYS, ACEGF, PNI), owner of Edge Yoga School, wanted to offer more affordable and accessible yoga. When she began her practice nearly a decade ago, she found that the national average of $20 per yoga class prevented many students from practicing as regularly as they would like. Sobi realized that the high price of yoga teacher training made it difficult for instructors to offer affordable yoga classes. As such, she offers her training courses for nearly half the price of the local average.

She also found the rigid structure of set training hours made it difficult for most to attend. Michelle developed a flexible training module that runs year round, so that students may register for training from week to week, as they do for studio classes. She also offers weekend intensives and training retreats for folks that would like to finish up sooner. In this way, the student chooses their training schedule.

Historically, sages would pass yoga teachings on to their disciples. Sobi realized that with the absence of these yogic philosophers, structured programs to lead a yoga teacher training was also missing. "In a time that Yoga Alliance is reevaluating their credentials for those looking to lead such trainings, it just makes sense to offer a certification," Sobi said.

For those looking to dive deeper, Sobi offers personalized mentorships, as well.

"Through this practice of understanding and compassion, I hope to reach as many people as possible and help change the world," Sobi said. "We are really different because we not only focus on the physical aspect of postures, but also the emotional healing that comes with learning how to integrate yogic practices into our daily lives.

Edge Yoga School offers both online and in-person courses which are approved by the Yoga Alliance and the American Council on Exercise.
