Pfeiffer Photography: Cherishing Every Occasion

By Marina I. Jokic

Even outside of his regular job, owner of Pfeiffer Photography Scott Pfeiffer likes to photograph pretty much everything. An avid photographer since childhood, Pfeiffer is fascinated by the instantaneous capture of discrete moments. At times, a spontaneous picture can tell us so much more than words and enables us to see nuances of feelings and character we might otherwise miss.

Pfeiffer became interested in photography upon being introduced to his first camera by his dad. The two of them took pictures together, and that first roll of film got him hooked on the experience. He wanted to do more of it every day. His father realized his potential at such an early age and encouraged his son's endeavors.

Pfeiffer had his big break at the age of 14 when he happened upon a major fire at a local roller skate rink. He captured the billowing smoke with his camera, and the images were summarily published by several local newspapers. Feeling the thrill of this escapade, Pfeiffer decided to chase the feeling and continued photographing religiously, learning new techniques and tricks that produced impressive pictures. The precocious teenager kept at his pastime for years, ultimately growing up to be a professional photographer many years later. It wasn't until Pfeiffer was asked to photograph a wedding that he was led down the path of forming his own business.

"It was not until I had my kids that I wanted to enhance my skills," he said. "I was taking pictures of my own kids, and people saw them and asked me to take pictures of their kids; soon, the word spread and I was the neighborhood photographer."

His photographic style has always hinged on customer needs. Some of his clients want to pose for their pictures and look into the camera while others enjoy a more spontaneous or goofy look. In general, customers request a variety of photographs to be taken in different styles. Portraits can be taken indoors and outdoors using digital means or traditional film and available in various artistic effects.

"People choose me for many reasons: quality of my services, easy to work with, affordable prices, and ownership of the pictures," Pfeiffer said. "Overall, I try to deliver an exceptional value [in the form of high] quality pictures at affordable prices."

Pfeiffer Photography's services are not only known for taking pictures at the usual events like weddings, baby showers, and engagements. Team photos, senior portraits, and pet photography are also available. The studio serves the entire Chicago area.
