Please tell us a little bit about your company and the services you offer.

We offer complete landscape services from design, install and maintaining, from complete gut and start over to just sprucing up what you already have. We offer services for every financial need from biweekly mow to A1 complete services. We do commercial, residential, and work for banks and realtors.

Can you briefly describe what you would recommend as a basic property or landscape maintenance program for a healthy yard?

As a basic maintenance program we at Top Gunn Landscape recommend weekly mowing with a sharp mower. A 4 step fertilizer program is recommended with aeration in the fall is preferred. Finally trimming of bushes at least twice a year. Watering during any times of no rainfall.

What are some of the most common areas (or outdoor tasks) that homeowners neglect?

One of the most common areas of neglect are the bedded areas, ie. Flowers and bushes. Keep free of weeds and debris and replenish the mulch yearly. Also edge the dirt edges and rings around trees. These help keep out critters and keep the plants and trees healthy. A good fertilizer helps the plants fight off disease and weather drought situations.

Do you have any tips for keeping lawns green and gorgeous?

Fertilizer and weed control, a healthy lawn will choke out weeds and bugs. A deep soak once a week in hot, dry times is all that is needed to keep a lawn green.

Is there a common misconception that people have about proper yard maintenance?

Cut it twice a month, no fertilizer or just in the summer, the fall feeding is the most important if you must only do once a year, it helps with the root growth, recovery from summer and gets a good greenup in the spring. Also only trimming bushes once a year doesn't leave the bushes full and tight.

What are some of the most important steps that a homeowner can take to help keep their yard looking great?

Keep on top of it if you let it go then it gets more difficult and before you know it you have to pull everything and start over.

What's the best way for people to contact you and your company?
